TESTIMONIALS

I'm very impressed! You've made a really charming record. And I think the video for "This Is a Song" is a piece of minimalist perfection. You may have invented a new genre - 'OBVIOUSISM'

--Andy Partridge

-----------------------------------------------

This is a very good CD indeed - and I'd venture to say your best yet! "This Is a Song" is quite, quite brilliant. I shall doubtless be discovering many more moments of genius with repeated plays, so very well done indeed. I do hope you attract a few more buyers this time out, too; these songs deserve to be heard.

--Dave Gregory

Got your new Teeth. Played it all the way through during dinner. TWICE. Lots of good stuff. Very impressive effort. You're a genius.

No, you're not. Just wanted to see if you read this far. But it is a fun smattering of catchy tunes and nicely crafted pop. You've learned from the masters - all of whom consider themselves geniuses, when in fact they are merely deeply psychologically disturbed. So are you.

No, you're not!

Best of all are the cover and interior photos. Great package design, deserves to win an award.

--Irwin Chusid - WFMU, author of "Songs In The Key of Z"

-----------------------------------------------

Amy and I have been enjoying your new CD, which deserves to become a classic even if just for the opening song about a song - is it a song within a song? Probably not, but it's a work of genius treading as it does that fine line between nausea inducing and brilliance! Which I suppose is the fascination of the game show. Anyway, we love Game Show Teeth!!! Reserve a place on your next album for me and Amy!

--Wreckless Eric (and Amy Rigby)

-----------------------------------------------

The CD is excellent, and it's great to be in such good company.

--Joe McGinty

-----------------------------------------------

Clever, self-effacing, often humorous lyrics, and strong, sing-able melodies made me want to listen to this record repeatedly. Mitch Friedman writes quirkier pop than Andy Partridge.

--Dan Fisherman - drummer, The Mommyheads

-----------------------------------------------

First off the cover, and the layout inside, is fantastic. This is a fine collection of songs and is your strongest work. I think you have a lot to be proud of, and you're going to hear a lot of praise heading your way. The whole album has very smart arrangements and your trademark wisely humorous lyrics. Great job. I'm proud to be a part of it.

--John Dunbar

-----------------------------------------------

Your CD has been the only thing playing in my car for days. I truly like every single song. I think it's all super. About half the album is tied for my favorite song.

"This Is a Song" is just so friggin clever and simple and everyone will wish they thought to write it themselves. You have to smile when you hear it and you have to insist that everyone listen to it because you know they cannot fail to be delighted. It will probably eventually be a part of every songwriting class ever taught. Any teacher teaching songwriting would be so glad to have it.

My pleasure to be a part of such a magical album. I feel certain that your work will be noticed. Maybe soon. Maybe in 30 years. But it will be recognized (in a good way). I bet people will cover your songs.

One thing you have over the teeming masses of people making albums is superior lyrics. Not that the music isn't wonderful. It is wonderful. But only a wee tiny number of people write great lyrics. You are one of them! Yay!

--Andrea Perry

-----------------------------------------------

I gave your CD a high honor: I popped it in my car and drove all over Oahu listening to it several times. I really really like it and think you've made some sort of quantum leap here.

"This Is a Song" is the greatest starter ever. So funny, and so true! Really sets the tone. I find "I Have Never Lied" to be extremely catchy and fun to listen to. I just love that tune and that groove. Those stops come in a slightly unexpected place (for me), and they are great. I still feel that "Make Yourself at Home" is the greatest thing going. I hadn't heard it in awhile, but it's very soothing. That keyboard parts kills me. I've never come up with something that sublime. I really like "My Dumb Luck" a lot. My favorite guitar parts are not the ones I played! That acoustic and the bass line are so cool.

I notice your vocals are the best you've ever done, and the drums sound great all over the damned thing. Nice job!

--Jim Smart

-----------------------------------------------

Game Show Teeth arrived at my door today! Sounds and looks great - excellent job, my friend. Thank you for the chance to contribute to such cool songs, and to perform (albeit virtually) with one of my musical heroes!

--Daryl Bean

-----------------------------------------------

The CD is luminous. To paraphrase Mao Tse Tung, you've made a great leap forward with this one. Every song is not only really, genuinely, really good, but the arrangements, production, mixing, tunes, and performances are jaw-dropping. And your vocals are so much more confident and fun, taking lots of chances and landing them every time like an olympic gymnastics routine. Congratulations on the whole package. The graphic design is great, but it always is.

--Doug McCausland

-----------------------------------------------

"This Is a Song" is a postmodern masterpiece, you dog. So clever. My fave song on the album, however, is "The Man That Talked Too Much" because it reminded me of an ex-beloved friend, and the "yak" guitar made me laugh. Overall, pop goodness, with wanky guitar sprinklings in just the right places. Plus, how'd you get those superstar people? Partridge? And Dave Gregory?

--Lucy Laird

-----------------------------------------------

I love the album - it sounds to me like a lost Jellyfish classic (just take that as a compliment, I promise!) I've been listening to it off and on since I received it . . . really great stuff.

--Ben Gott

-----------------------------------------------

A most perfect addition to my favourites collection of music. Yow, this album has it all!! "This Is a Song" is my favourite. Such a clever idea and rendering, it blows me away with every listening. So well done!!

--Becki DiGregorio

-----------------------------------------------

I am loving this CD! Thanks so much for making me smile (with non game show teeth.) Bravo to you!

--Holden Kepecs

-----------------------------------------------

I'm on my third listen of Game Show Teeth and I must say that this album is full of clever, catchy songs . . great performances and equally great production. I really REALLY like it. It may very well become my favorite Mitch Friedman work, to date. Well done, dear fellow!

--Deb Brown

-----------------------------------------------

Hey I LOVE the CD. But who is this guy? He is really talented, great voice, amazing lyrics, catchy rhythms and very funny. Really original and fun. I especially love that first cut. I can't get it out of my head - that's good, not bad. THIS IS THE CHORUS..THIS IS THE CHORUS. A great album Mitch!

--Mike Goldstein

-----------------------------------------------

Best one yet. Guitar playing ---- improving greatly, better song-writing. Anyway----good for you, Mitch.

--Jeannie West

-----------------------------------------------

Love love love the album! I have listened to it about a dozen times, no joke.

I love 'This Is a Song' and 'Often I Saunter', my favourite lyric from the latter being 'an otter aloft in brine', that image is so satisfying. Other faves include 'Keep It a Secret' 'Blackout' and 'I Have Never Lied.' I would like to perform 'Often I Saunter' or 'I Have Never Lied' at an open mic event I go to...if that'd be okay.

There's genius lyrics in every song but I especially love 'Relationship can i land it, without you I shan't even plan-it' from 'As Moons Go'. I wish there was more music like this about.

--Harry Partridge

-----------------------------------------------

We got our copy today and we love it!! DAMN you're one talented fellow!!

--Jill Young

-----------------------------------------------

I've played it through a couple of times since it arrived, and I love it. You've got quite a talent, and I applaud you for following your muse. I'm especially enjoying "This Is a Song" - pure genius to write a song about the structure of a typical song.

--Bud Stafford

-----------------------------------------------

I've been listening to your CD - lots of very catchy, fun material! I certainly hear They Might Be Giants and a bit of XTC in your sound - and also a little Sparks (well, a Brooklyn sort of Sparks, that is...)

--Dave Seaman

-----------------------------------------------

I think it's very good. It reminds me of a cross between R. Stevie Moore, They Might Be Giants and something else (not sure what). Yet, you have your own sound. Your lyrics are wry and often very funny. And the songs are very good too. Kudos to you!

--Steve Durben

-----------------------------------------------

Sounding very polished and professional - very impressive. Love the cover too!!

--Fiona Davey

-----------------------------------------------

As someone who created a game show (Idiot Quest, check it out on Youtube), I enjoyed the CD very much. Anyone who can rhyme Scrabble with Babel is tops in my book!

--Steven Marmalstein

-----------------------------------------------

Finally got to your CD and am loving it, your best so far. All songs strong. Reminds me of the CD Roy Wood should have made, and if he did, I'd be singing it's praises to all.

--Lane Steinberg

-----------------------------------------------

It kind of reminds me of some Todd Rundgren material (not a bad thing at all) where he plays and sings everything himself. Yours is pretty fun stuff. By the way, have you ever heard Matching Mole (Robert Wyatt's band after leaving Soft Machine)? I immediately thought of them when I read the lyrics to "This Is a Song" (before I played it, even) since their debut album from 1972 has a similar, but emotionally very different, song called "Signed Curtain."

--John Underwood

-----------------------------------------------

No home should be without Game Show Teeth! Think this might be your best collection yet. Very well recorded and mixed. After a couple of listens, 'My Dumb Luck' and 'Blackout' are my faves - but I'm sure the others will eventually creep up and bite me on the ass.

--Marty Byk

-----------------------------------------------

It's clear that you had a lot of fun when you recorded the music and that wig fits you perfectly. I have only spinned the album once, but can already hear that there are several gems.

--Per Aronsson

-----------------------------------------------

Little masterpieces! Don't keep it a secret. Spread the good word. This stuff must be heard!! As moons go, she's dynamite. I recommend it and I have never lied.

--Jim Price

-----------------------------------------------

Mitch Friedman has developed his unique style over the years and Game Show Teeth has proven to be his best effort yet.

--Mike Versaci

-----------------------------------------------

So incredible, this thing, I'm not even sure what I'm looking at/listening to!

--Ryan Junell

-----------------------------------------------

Well impressed with the new CD, Mitch. Terrific production! And you are such a friend of the stars!

p.s. Nice wig

--Geoff Lewis

-----------------------------------------------

I think your new album is easily your best. Congrats on your accomplishments!

--Peter Fowkes

-----------------------------------------------

I am enjoying Game Show Teeth! I particularly like 'My Dumb Luck' and 'As Moons Go'! Stellar company you are keeping as well!

--Roger Ferguson

-----------------------------------------------

Tuneful and clever. Keep up the good work!

--Peter Soboroff

-----------------------------------------------

Love the album. You must be very proud!

--Daniel Prendiville

-----------------------------------------------

The opening song is brilliant! I love this song. The last chorus (sung with extra strength!) is so perfect. Love the middle eight, too.

So far, my other favourite tracks are:

My Dumb Luck - This song, particularly the bridge, reminds me of the Dukes of Stratosphear.

The Man Who Talked Too Much - "A diction addiction"? What can I say?

In the Know - I like the mood of this one. Nice vocals, reminiscent of XTC'S "The Meeting Place."

She's Dynamite! - Great fun and features some wicked guitar work.

The arrangements are great throughout and the overall sound of the album is pleasing to the ear. And of course, the lyrics are perversely clever.

Extra points for getting Dave and Andy to contribute to this too.

--Jean-Pierre Morin

You really have succeeded with this album in so many ways. It's truly so well achieved, great fun, clever lyrically, I'm in awe. It's wonderful, wonderful .... heaps of work I guess and all worth it.

--Jude Cowan

-----------------------------------------------

Love the CD! After repeated listens, love the melodies and the first cut 'This Is a Song' is a fave... so silly (and a great pop song!). Nice guest appearances too all over the album. Thanks for the music mon ami!

Game Show Teeth is a musical odyssey and oddity all at once. From the playfulness of "Little Masterpiece" to the disingenuous "I Have Never Lied," Mr. Friedman's 13 songs offer little nuggets of truth about the songwriter while painting a colorful landscape of melodious tomfoolery. I am enthusiastically pleased with this album.

--Christian McLaughlin

-----------------------------------------------

Your CD is awesome. Very awesome.

--Evan Fisher

-----------------------------------------------

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Game Show Teeth. It's really wonderful and reminded me of how great it was to get your music in the mail 20 or so years ago. As a sucker for self-reflexive ditties, I loved "This is a Song". But my favorite was "Make Yourself at Home", which had a classic R.Stevie Moore-like pop charm.
